About 150KM away from Colombo, the region is one of the most attractive coastal area of the country. Geomorphologicaly Kapitiya is a peninsular that separates the Puttalam lagoon. It is the paradise of Dolphins  and has been consists of wide Sandy Beaches, Flat Coastal Plains, Mangrove Plants, Salt Marshes, Sand Dunes and Bar Reef Marine Sanctuary.
